We don't know what we don't know yet.
I start to paint from my belly; then my heart gets involved, and then my head catches up. When I look at my paintings I feel content, I see possibility and potential. They are a reminder that we don't know what we don't know yet. A reminder that everything is made up of something else, what's on the surface, what we see, is usually not the whole story.
A number of things come together to make something happen. There are a lot of small parts that affect the big picture; each of those small parts is interesting. You can't have a big picture without all the small parts. And how we see all those small parts is affected by the bigger picture. An expansive, broad concept in continual revolution; change being the only constant. That to me is exciting. |

Atmospheres
Images in the “Atmospheres” series depict horizon like lines and tangible, visual distances with a tranquil, Eastern sensibility. I’m working to capture an experience much larger than the canvas; describing just enough to give the viewer a point of departure. |
S.R.R. Beginnings
S.R.R. (Shadows, Reflections, Repetition) These images are developed from patterns and textures found in everyday life, from both man-made objects, architecture, and nature. You might imagine the shadows of tree leaves on an aged brick sidewalk as an accurate starting point. |
S.R.R. Portraits
More from the S.R.R. series. Concepts for these are inspired by images created from the combination of reflective surfaces and moving water. Picture a glass office building reflecting a glimpse of a sunset in the rain. A brief view of transient images that often look repeated, but are never exactly the same. |
